Effective ownership (EO) measures how many of your mini-league rivals own a player. If a player is captained heavily, their EO is even higher. Players with ownership above 30% — like Haaland, João Pedro, B.Fernandes — are considered template picks. Differentiating against these players can give you a big rank boost if they blank.
Should I own the template players?
Template players (owned by 20%+ of managers) provide rank security — you avoid losing ground when they score. However, owning all templates limits upside. The optimal strategy is to hold 2–3 premium template assets as a base, then differentiate in your remaining picks to target rank gains.
